Festival Amadeus 2012
Enjoy "Mountains by Day, Music by Night " at the 2012 Festival Amadeus, Montana’s only week long classical music festival that will launch its 5th season with a free open-air concert on Sunday, July 22 at Depot Park in Whitefish. The park opens at 6:00 pm with the concert starting at 7:30 pm. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Beer, wine, and food will be available for purchase. Glacier Symphony and Chorale Music Director, John Zoltek, will lead the Festival Amadeus Orchestra and violinist, Tim Fain is the featured performer.
The week continues on Monday, July 23, with Virtuoso Violins, a silent auction and wine tasting, at the O’Shaughnessy Center for the Performing Arts. Doors open at 7:00 pm and bidding will close at 8:30 p.m. Twelve original works of violin art from prominent Montana artists and tasting from “Mozart’s Cellar” featuring select wines from Austria and Italy will be held.
Tuesday, July 24, 2012: Chamber Night 1, “Magnificent Duo” at the Whitefish Center for the Performing Arts, 7:30 p.m. Featuring Paul Coletti on the viola and Tim Fain on the violin, accompanied by April Lane, piano.
Wednesday, July 25, 2012: Chamber Night 2, “Cello Piano Fantasy” featuring Alon Goldstein on piano. He will be joined by Amit Peled on cello, and Dinah Weimer on clarinet. The concert will be held at the Whitefish Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. A selection of works by Mozart and Debussy with a clarinet trio by Beethoven will be performed.
Thursday, July 26, 2012: The first Orchestra night “Serenade of Soloists” featuring the Festival Amadeus Strings with Tim Fain, violin and Paul Coletti, viola. The concert will be held in the Whitefish Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. Works by Mozart, Bach, Teleman, and Vivaldi will be featured.
Friday, July 27, 2012: “Haydn and Mozart and Shostakovich” featuring the Festival Amadeus Orchestra and guest cellist Amit Peled in the romantic “Cello Concerto” by Robert Schumann. The concert will be held in the Whitefish Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. Popular symphonies by Haydn and Mozart complete this concert of classical masterpieces.
Saturday, July 28, 2012: The exciting “Festival Concerto Finale” at the Whitefish Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 pm. The concert highlights guest pianist Alon Goldstein and his interpretation of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in Bb major. Symphony principal clarinetist Dinah Weimer also will be featured in the world premiere of “Concerto Rustica”, penned by Maestro Zoltek. Sparkling overtures by Mozart and Rossini will complete the week of music and brings together the Festival Amadeus Orchestra.

The Festival is the only week-long classical music series in Northwest Montana and includes a chamber music camp for young musicians, presented by North Valley Music School in Whitefish.Camp Festival Amadeus with, Jenanne Solberg, Artistic Director is open for early intermediate to advanced string, harp, flute and clarinet students entering 7th to 12th grades. Instructors are accredited music teachers and/or professional musicians. Additional Master classes will be taught by guest artists performing with the 2012 Festival Amadeus Orchestra and students are provided tickets to attend all Festival Amadeus Concerts.
