Chill in the Bellevue Underground Coal Mine where the tunnel’s breeze stays a constant 7°C (45°F). The Bellevue Mine operated from 1903 to 1961, during which time 13 million tons of coal were taken from the rich seams. Today, you can put on a miner’s helmet and lamp and take a guided one-of-a-kind underground tour of the Bellevue Mine to learn about a miner’s life and the room-and-pillar method of coal mining.
The Bellevue Underground Mine Tour visitor centre is located in the community of Bellevue, one of the five communities that make up the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass in southwest Alberta. The visitor centre and mine tour welcomes families, individuals, and tour or school groups.
First tour: 10:00 a.m., Last tour: 5:30 p.m (Tours every 30 minutes)
Summer tours: May 12 to Labour Day, 2008; Off-season tours available with appointment

Visitor Center is Child FriendlyExit off Highway 3 (Crowsnest Highway) in the Municipality of Crowsnest Pass at the Bellevue Centre Access. Centre Access leads to the main street (213th Street) of the small community of Bellevue. At the end of main street (just past the Old Dairy Ice Cream Shoppe), turn right at the Bellevue Mine's signed access road which leads down to the Bellevue Underground Mine Tour visitor centre and parking area. There is ample space for large RV's to park and turn around.

This tour was soooo interesting and educational. Our six and four year old boys loved it. Dress warmly...even in summer it's around freezing inside. Definitely check it out.
