Campground or Cabin Description

A good choice for Waterton-Park visitors seeking some distance from the crowds and commercial activity of the Waterton townsite. Belly River Campground is rustic and unserviced. Tenters particularly appreciate the privacy of the sites, while anglers will value immediate access to the Belly River.

Located along the Chief Mountain Highway 26 km from Waterton townsite, this self-registration campground offers 24 unserviced sites with well water (hand pump), flush and dry privies, food storage, kitchen shelters, fire rings and fire wood. A pleasant area of mixed aspen forest, this primitive campground lies right beside the Belly River, and is favoured by those campers wanting a more secluded experience. Foxes, bear and deer are common through the area. A Campground Host Programme operates in this campground.

Group camping for a minimum of 25 people. Call (403)859-2224 for reservations. Reservations are not accepted for single site camping.

Nightly Fee

$15.70 for single sites, $4.90 per person group camping. Mid-May to mid-September.

Driving Directions from Nearest Town or Landmark

From the Montana-Alberta border crossing at Chief Mountain, drive a few minutes north on Provincial Highway 6 to the campground access road.

From the north, drive Provincial Highway 6 towards the Chief Mountain border crossing. After crossing the Belly River, look for the campground access road on the west side of the highway.
