Each August, the small town of Cardston, Alberta bustles with activities during Heritage Week.
Free pancake breakfasts daily, a family softball tournament, various rodeo events - including one where different ranches send their hands to compete against other ranches! - a mud bog event, and the big finale on Saturday with a parade in the morning, and fireworks in the evening.
Many events are free, including breakfasts, the parade. $10 for mudbog/rodeo combo ticket.

The mudbog event and rodeos happen at the Agridome, located on the western edge of town.
There are two rodeos - one a semi-professional circuit rodeo, and one is a special 'ranch hands' rodeo, where teams from area ranches compete against each other for bragging rights as to who's the best cowboy!
Cardston is very easy to get to from any direction, as it is located at the junction of several major highways, and just 10 miles north of the US border crossing at Carway.
