Go fly a kite!!! During the Children of Wind Kite Festival each July the skies over the Oldman River Dam come alive with kites of every shape and colour. Kite flyers gather at Windy Point Campground in the Oldman Dam Provincial Recreational Area for the festival.
Anyone with a kite can join in the fun. Kids can make their own kites (while supplies last). Learn from skilled flyers and watch professionals as they make their kites cut through the air. Other more grounded activities such as face painting, clowns and music are all part of the festival.
None. Kites can be bought at the site.
For the child in everyone.
Outdoor Activity
The Children of the Wind Kite Festival takes place at the Windy Point Campground in the Oldman Dam Provincial Recreation Area. Windy Point Campground gets its name for a good reason. Strong west winds sweep down the Oldman Reservoir most summer days.
Windy Point Campground is located in the Oldman Dam Provincial Recreational Area. The Recreational Area can be reached from Secondary Road 510 that branches off Highway 3 at Cowley and east of Pincher Creek. Windy Point Campground is situated at the east end of the Oldman Reservoir, just north of the dam.
