Bed down at a working ranch where a stewardship ethic makes home on the range for wildlife as well as livestock.
"How loud can quiet be?"
Chimney Rock Bed and Breakfast is nestled between the Livingstone Range and the Porcupine Hills in what is historically known as Breeding Valley. The elevation is approximately 1300 meters (4300 feet), similar to the Banff town site. The Rocky Mountains dictate the sometimes-radical climate changes occurring in our region-Chinook winds warm our winter days and hot summer days with cooler evenings. Modern accommodations in a rural, remote setting yet easy to get out and explore our local sights. The tepee is ready for you to use now too!
There are 2 bedrooms; both have queen-size beds with a separate, keyed entrance for your privacy. The “Room with a View” has an ensuite bathroom and the “Buckskin ‘n Blue” bedroom has a private bathroom. The guest lounge area offers satellite TV, library, games and puzzles with 2 foldout futons to provide extra sleeping accommodation if necessary or can be reconfigured with tables and chairs as a small meeting area.
We can now offer accommodation in our tepee - 2 rustic beds constructed with local trees and air mattresses are available. Bring your own sleeping bag and bedding. Large enough for a workshop yet cozy enough to be used as a retreat. Outhouse facility is nearby. Join us at the house for meals and other activities. Breakfast is included . . . wildlife, stars, and campfire is optional.
We can offer menus for special dietary requirements please let us know of your preferences.
Full and Hearty Breakfast
Year round
The Webster family has been ranching here since 1946 and there are lots of stories to be told over a mug of coffee - most of them are true! There are miles of fence line to maintain and plenty of other chores we would be happy to share with you but we can show you another way to enjoy a . . .
“3D” WESTERN EXPERIENCE
DAWN: Watch the mountains turn a rosy pink as the sun nudges them awake. Listen to the birds crowd around the birdfeeder for their breakfast. Catch a glimpse of the deer as they come out to enjoy the morning warmth. Learn about the area’s ranching heritage.
DAYTIME: Nap in the sun on the deck. Drive through the country. Find fishing or hiking or hunting nearby. Read a book. Look over Deb’s pressed flowers and weeds. Do some sightseeing. Enjoy a big, blue Alberta sky. Paint a picture.
DUSK: See the sun tuck the mountains in bed with a brilliant, magenta blanket. Hear the birds make their last rounds before they roost for the night. Watch for the wildlife as they wander back to the cover of the trees to bed down. Listen to the beavers splash in the creek as they engineer another log or rock in place. After dark, you’ll have an opportunity to see the stars, or even the northern lights.
