Comments and Ratings

Friends took us to the Cobblestone Manor to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. They couldn't have chosen a better place. The food was great, the owner/chef kept us thoroughly entertained.

My husband and I took my cousin to the Cobblestone Manor for lunch last year. She was here visiting us from England. We had a lovely lunch and all thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was wonderful and the setting reminded us of similar restaurants in England. A lovely old house and a great restaurant. We will be back....

Description of Lodging Property

Meticulously constructed of logs and river rock over 39 years, beginning in 1889, Cardston's landmark Cobblestone Manor is now a refined restaurant, with bed and breakfast accommodation for out-of-towners.

Belgian finish carpenter Henry Hoet purchased the original log home in 1913 and began adding round cobblestones from local Lee Creek, as well finely detailed ceilings made of hardwood scraps recovered from the construction of Cardston's Alberta Temple, the focal point of Mormon life in the province.

Hoet, according to local lore, built the mansion in anticipation of bringing over his sweetheart from Belgium. But she never came, and the master craftsman died a bachelor.
