Overview

Family Forestry Expo, a tradition in the Flathead Valley for the past 21 years, will be Saturday May 8, 2010.This family oriented event features a forest walk with hands on educational stations and demonstrations to learn about the many uses of our forests, public and private. A grandstand show at 10:30 and 1:00 features Flathead Valley Community College Logging Sports Team demonstrations, the Spotted Bear Ranger District mue pack string, and logging equipment demonstrations. A free logging camp lunch is provided 11:30 to 1:00.
Expo is held every spring. Approximately 1200 fifth graders visit Expo during the week to learn about natural resource topics, in conjunction with their classroom studies. The students learn about wildlife, archaeology, fire, backcountry ethics, plant identification, fisheries, forest management and more. On Saturday it will be a family event.
A group of dedicated individuals, organizations, agencies and businesses work together to host this enjoyable and educational event every year. It provides unbiased information about forests and the multiple opportunities they provide in our everyday lives.
