Description of Professional Guided Experience

Wander the lush wetlands of the Elk River. The drumming of flickers and mating chorus of red-winged blackbirds will serenade you as gangly blue herons probe peacefully for their lunch. The Rufus Hummingbird may dive-bomb you as you check out an industrious beaver working on his lodge or a cow moose tending to her young calf.

Tucked away in the rugged Rocky Mountains, Fernie's wetlands, lakes, forests and alpine meadows provide a host of opportunities for bird watching. Whether you are an avid birder or are new to the activity, Fernie Nature Tours has a tour designed for you.

American dippers, great blue herons, bald eagles, long-billed curlews, hummingbirds, Western tanagers and pileated woodpeckers are only a few of the birds you are likely to see on a day out with experienced birder and naturalist Lee-Anne Walker.

Lee-Anne's extensive knowledge of the ecosystems in the area will ensure that your experience is tailored to your needs whether that be checking one more species off your list or learning the skills for the first time.

The tours are offered year round with no set dates.
