Description of Lodging Property

Great pillars of old-growth Douglas fir dominate the lobby. The Blackfeet Indians, awed by the size of the timbers called it "Omahkoyis", or Big Tree Lodge.

Lodging Style and Amenities

The lodge, located in East Glacier along the main Burlington Northern Railroad line, was built between 1912 and 1914 and has 161 rooms. Amtrak passengers still can arrive at the log station across from the Lodge, much as they did almost one hundred years ago. Located outside the Park near a southeastern entrance to Glacier National Park in East Glacier Park, MT, the lodge's location is convenient for hiking and sightseeing in the Two Medicine area.

The ceiling of the impressive lobby is supported by huge Douglas fir pillars that are over 40 feet high and 40 inches in diameter. The lodge decor is western- themed. The rustic yet comfortable rooms have double, queen, or twin sized beds and private baths.

The lodge is owned and operated by Glacier Park Inc., the Glacier National Park concessioner.
