A link in the national TransCanada Trail system, Isadore Canyon Trail will give you an easy mountain-biking route along a right-of-way abandoned by the Canadian Pacific Railway.
Several kilometres long, this scenic trail is smooth yet challenging and is enjoyed by hikers as well as cyclists. Isadore Canyon is the old CP Railway grade that travels between Cranbrook and Wardner. The rails were removed many years ago and the track bed is smooth for biking and hiking. The trail follows interesting rock bluffs, but the route is not a canyon. This popular trail is well marked, offers picnic areas and breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains.
The hike begins at the south edge of the parking area then downhill into the forest. Cross a fence at the base of the hill and turn left to hike in Isadore Canyon. The beginning of the Isadore Canyon Trail is within the Cranbrook Community Forest. The section that runs parallel with Hwy 3/95 is in the Forest, and the rest of the trail is on railway land. This trail is designated as a short & easy hike.
