I took a one day hike up to Whale Back on a sunny Alberta afternoon and Julie demonstrated great skill in leading our group along this trek. We learned how to read patterns in the landscape and determine where the boggy areas were and what the vegetation told us about the soil and animal habitat. The vistas were breathtaking and well worth the climb. I especially enjoyed our lunch break when we stopped in a sunny wooded area of aspen; the leaves rustling in a quiet breeze, and we ate (food never tasted so good) introduced ourselves and shared stories. I will definitely go out with Julie again and I am looking forward to participating in some of her Wild Edible tours and even a Winter snowshoe excursions.
