Lincoln, MT is a small scenic town nestled among stately old ponderosa pines at the head of the Blackfoot River. Just west of the Continental divided, Lincoln is 86 miles southwest of Great Falls, and 60 miles northwest of Helena. Halfway between Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, Lincoln is bordered by the Bob Marshall and Scapegoat wilderness areas to the north and the Blackfoot River to the south. Lincoln is an all season destination offering excellent fishing, hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, as well as 250 miles of groomed snowmobile trail and cross country skiing, backcountry skiing, and a summer rodeo. Lincoln is home to the official restart/finish line for Montana's Race to the Sky, sled dog race each February.
The rural community of Lincoln in the mountains of western Montana has a lot to offer with the 'Old West' open rodeo, an annual event for over 50 years! The Lincoln Rodeo is performed on Saturday and Sunday June 30 and July 1 with entrants all over the western states. The annual 4th of July celebration that is the epitomy of "Small Town America." On the Saturday before the 4th entrants from all over western Montana bring their floats for he parade that travels down Main Street (State Hwy. 200) that is closed during the parade. July 4th fireworks display. Lincoln's Hooper Park, complete with Interpretive Kiosk, is a stop on the Lewis and Clark Trail. Central to the park is its large log pavilion, featuring integrated carvings of members of the Corp of Discovery. The pavillion is flanked by ballfields, horseshoe pits, and 26 shaded campsites nestled in ponderosa pines with a covered pavillion. Lincoln is home to the official restart/finish line for Montana's Race to the Sky, sled dog race each February. The 350 mile race covers some of the most grueling, challenging terrain offering the most mountainous trail in the lower forty-eight.
