Ovando came into existence in the 1870's and '80's as a pioneer town..Ranching and lumber were and remain the mainstays of the economy. Ovando is a historical site and on the Lewis and Clark Trail. Today recreational fishing, hunting hiking, backpacking into the Scapegoat Wilderness, snow-mobiling, cross country skiing, and snow shoeing attract visitors and residents alike. Key events include the Old West Christmas Fest, late September Lincoln Rod Run. Streets Rods, Muscle Cars, Classic Cars run the roads from Lincoln, to Helmville to Ovando on a Poker Run, and 4th of July Celebrations.
