Description of Event

A great way to appreciate the flavor of rural towns is to taste the local food at a farmers'market. Add Choteau to the list. The Rocky Mountain Front Farmers Market will convene every Saturday from July 11 through September 5, 2009 at the Visitor Information Center at the north end of Main Street 8:30 - noon.

Organized to provide an opportunity for folks to sell their produce and products locally, the market structure is simple, fun and festive. Stroll the market on Saturdays from 8:30 am to noon through September 1st. The season may be extended depending on interest.

You'll find a wide variety of items that are grown, gathered, or made locally. Produce is abundant and the organic vegetables are exceptional. You'll find value-added agricultural products like goats milk soaps, hand knitted scarves and sweaters from local custom dyed wool yarns. Gardeners will be thrilled with the plants, flowers, shrubs and trees.

All nursery plants that are available as cuttings, roots, tubers, and bulbs are "potted up" and perennials that have “outgrown their place” are either "potted up" or brought in “loose.” Home baked breads, cakes, candies, cookies, pastries, and pies are aromatic, and the preserves are truly local. Meats and eggs are healthy and home grown and the arts and crafts range from paintings to furniture, from pottery to sculptures, from flower wreathes to leather goods.
