Description of Event

Spring is the favorite season for many visitors to Glacier National Park. Ride your bike on the Going-to-the-Sun Road, watch clown-faced harlequin ducks surfing the whitewater on McDonald Creek, and look for grizzlies graze avalanche chutes above.

Spring is also a great time to give back to the park. Spring for Glacier on May 21celebrates the 100th Anniversary of the establishment of Glacier National Park in 1910. It promises to be a full-bore party and fundraiser. This night to remember at Lake McDonald Lodge includes Red Bus rides, various buffet stations, wine, scenic boat rides, and lively entertainment. Proceeds from the fundraiser will be split by four non-profit groups who directly support Glacier National Park with funding, volunteer activities, and scientific research: Glacier National Park Associates, Glacier Association, Glacier Institute, and Glacier National Park Fund.

At Spring for Glacier 2010, the four park partners will auction off the Official Centennial Art collection.

Reservations are required to attend this event.

Event Setting

Spring for Glacier is a unique opportunity to enjoy fine entertainment and food at a festive fundraising event dressed up as a full-bore party.

The evening starts with hors d' oeuvres and cocktails at the Historic Belton Chalet located just outside the west entrance to Glacier National Park.

Guests are then shuttled via historic Red Jammer to the Lake McDonald Lodge, where they are greeted in the lobby by a beautiful buffet spread, live music, and local breweries and wineries featuring their area flavors.

The lobby is transformed into an elegant party space, and a trip to the dining room reveals more beautifully presented food and a silent auction offering items to delight those in love with Glacier National Park, its beauty and activities.

Glacier Park Boat Company offers tours of McDonald lake during this time, and it is smiles all around as people enjoy the afternoon sun and magnificent natural backdrop that is Glacier National Park.

Complimented by coffee and dessert, the evening closes with a live auction in the lodge's auditorium. Beautiful artwork, unique activities and services are bid upon, and as the evening ends guests mingle in the lodge lobby, some enjoying the heat from the massive fireplace as people trickle out the historic front doors for the Jammer ride back to the Belton.

Both the Belton Chalet and the Lake McDonald lodge offer special rates, and we recommend staying overnight for the full effect.

Funds raised during this event are split between four non-profit organizations that support Glacier National Park through educational outreach, donations, and volunteer activities.

The four groups are: Glacier Association, Glacier Institute, Glacier National Park Associates, and Glacier Park Fund.
