SwanWoods is an example of independent craftspeople making a living in a very rural location. The Swansons have been working together as craftsmen for over 25 years at this location. Many of the tools which they use are of their own design and making. It has been a challenging but rewarding choice of livelihood. They enjoy sharing the story of our life and craft with visitors from all over the globe. They are members of Alpine Artisans, Inc., a group of artists committed to preserving and promoting the arts in the Seeley-Swan area of western Montana since 1991. Alpine Artist activities include workshops, programs, exhibits, scholarships, meetings, and concerts which encourage the development of the arts for both AAI members and community members throughout the valleys.

To visit, take Hyw 200 to Ovando, drive up the Kozy Korner Road, as though you were going up to the Kozy for a steak, until you see a railroad car in the front yard. Otherwise phone 1.800.222.6957 or 406.793.5706

A visit to SwanWoods is a one-of-a-kind experience. Jerry and Martha are genuine people who are a pleasure to visit with. To see first-hand their woodworking studios and working area nestled by Shanley Creek, in the quiet countryside of the Blackfoot and Seeley-Swan corridor speaks to the soul. I'd recommend everyone to take a couple hours and make a trip to SwanWoods.
