I often find myself walking down Main Street in Pincher Creek, Alberta, to a small local bakery with big time flavour. Celestial Sweets is located "downtown" on the corner of Main Street and St. John Avenue. You can sit and enjoy a quality coffee, even taste a special Pincher Creek brew if you like, and of course sample the baked delights. I particularly vouch for the cheese buns, heated to the point where they break apart in flakes and expose the perfectly buttered and spiced layers; a nice, hardy, flavorful treat.
The bakery is a great place to stop on your way back from a hike or ride in the mountains. Better yet, take some cheese buns on the trail. In the evening, put one or two in a pan over a hot campfire, add a small smudge of margarine and cover for 4 minutes or so. Stay close and savor the aroma not unlike the Celestial Sweets Bakery, but with a pinch of nature.
