The dinosaur era

A Short Introduction to the Site

See hatchling bones from a fossil nest and join in active dinosaur digs along Montana’s Rocky Mountain Front.

Montana’s Two Medicine Dinosaur Center includes the world's longest dinosaur - a skeletal model display of a Seismosaurus - according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Other displays include the first baby dinosaur remains found in North America and the actual remains of other new dinosaur species.

Programs available through the Two Medicine Dinosaur Center of Montana are designed to allow participants to work beside actual research professionals and staff. Such interaction allows participants to learn current principles and techniques of fossil preservation, leading to better reporting and documentation of fossil discoveries.

Full Description of the Historical Site or Museum

The Two Medicine Dinosaur Center is a non-profit research and educational institution. Programs are designed to allow participants to work beside research professionals and staff. Such interaction allows participants to learn current principles and techniques of fossil preservation, which is intended to foster better reporting and documentation of fossil discoveries. Traditionally, amateur discoveries have made up over 90% of the total significant fossils documented. The Center encourages the public to continue this important tradition and at the same time lessen the adverse impact of untrained amateurs in the field.

Don't Miss This When Visiting

See the world’s largest full-size skeletal model of Seismosaurus halli (earth-shaker lizard); a Guinness Book of World Records listing at 137 feet long, nearly 23 feet tall at the hips. The Center also features the first baby dinosaur bones found in North America. The Center is famous for its public hands-on dinosaur research and education programs. Advance registration required for most programs; some offer college credit. Located on U.S. Hwy 89, downtown Bynum. Look for the dinosaurs!

Bynum is a small community of approximately 20 people (when everyone is home!) nestled in the heart of dinosaur country. The closest "metropolitan" area is the town of Choteau (population 1,800). Most overnight visitors to the area stay and do their shopping in Choteau.
