Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks, such as livestock handing, hosting special events, digging for artifacts, and gardening.

The Bar U Ranch National Historic Site, managed by Parks Canada, recognizes that there is strength in numbers - especially if those numbers are made up of dedicated volunteers. Thousands of hours are donated to the ranch by its outstanding volunteer core. Help preserve a place in time by becoming a member of the Friends of the Bar U Historic Ranch Association. This group is a volunteer organization dedicated to working in partnership with Parks Canada to increase western ranching heritage awareness. The Friends of the Bar U assist Parks Canada with the site's volunteer program, run the Pekisko Creek Gift Shop, and head up fundraising activities. The major goal of Friends of the Bar U Historic Ranch Association is to work in partnership with Parks Canada for the preservation, protection and enhancement of the Bar U Ranch N.H.S , now and in the future.
