Description of Event

Fall is a wonderful time to view wildlife in the Crown of the Continent, and Waterton Lakes National Park is a critter-watchers paradise. Experience a learning vacation September 23-25 during the Waterton Wildlife Weekend, sponsored by Trail of the Great Bear in cooperation with Parks Canada and in partnership with Travel Alberta.

 

The Trail of the Great Bear is an award winning eco-tourism company offering nature and enrichment packages in the Canadian Rockies. The company is led by Beth Russell-Towe, a conservation leader and experienced guide who has led visitors throughout the Crown of the Continent. The Trail offers unique travel products, learning and enrichment programs, special interest group tours, customized self-drive itineraries, guiding services, and brand merchandising.

 

Events for the Waterton Wildlife Weekend range from guided wildlife-watching tours and photography workshops to fireside chats and slide presentations. The sign-in for each event is located at Tamarack Outdoor Outfitters on Mount View Road, located on the main entrance road in the Waterton Park townsite. Meet 20 minutes prior to event at Tamarack Outdoor Outfitters.

 

Evening events are at the Falls Theatre near Cameron Falls and the Weston Centre northwest of the Waterton Park entrance.

 

Wear: Walking shoes, rain gear, sun gear, windbreaker.

 

Bring: Water, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, camera.

 

Car pool events: you may ride with someone else or drive your own vehicle.

Waterton Lakes National Park is in the southwestern corner of Alberta. Together with Montana's Glacier National Park, this is the world's first international peace park, established in 1932, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
