Description of Lodging Property

The Izaak Walton Inn is an alpine lodge constructed in 1939 by the Great Northern Railroad to house winter snow removal crews. Rail-fans will enjoy exploring the many rooms, walking the halls and viewing all the interesting and unique railroad memorabilia.
The rail line runs within yards of the Inn. Near the Inn is the rail yard that still operates today. On any given day, one can see various train cars and rail line employees going about their daily business of operating a rail line.
The Inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Author and train buff Carl Morrison (Carl@Trainweb.com) with help from Don "Preacher" Roe describe their experience in stunning detail on their web site. The entire article, with photos and lots of great information can be viewed on Carl's website (I recommend you read the story, it's well done and very informative),
